We are excited to release the new fully Mentorized LP Wizard 10.1 with FLEXlm licensing. We worked very hard to bring you this update, but now it's time for more improvements.
The IPC-7351B publication will be ready for release in September and it's time to add additional component families to the standard and kick-off the progress on the IPC-7351C for 2012.
I would like everyone to send me datasheets of components that the LP Wizard cannot build. One-of-a-kind unique parts are starting to appear in the industry. I just got a datasheet for an 8,000 pin LGA package and there's talk of an upcoming 10,000 pin part. Wow, that's an entire PC board in one part. The component manufacturers continue to produce new complex component packages that require custom land patterns that are challenging PCB designers and CAD librarians all over the world. It takes 1 week to build all the new CAD library parts and 1 week to do the entire PCB layout after the library parts are built. Also, I hate making a mistake in creating a PCB library part. One bad part can ruin your entire day, not to mention an entire batch of PCB's.
We're constantly looking for CAD library perfection because all professional PCB designers know that PCB Design perfection starts in the CAD library. A high quality library makes part placement look better, via fanout easier, signal routing cleaner and manufacturing drawings look more professional. I think a high the quality CAD library also increases overall productivity and speeds up PCB layout time.
I'm looking forward to everyone's comments on how we can collaborate on ideas that improve the quality of our workmanship, reduce errors and increase our productivity.
